Find your space

Cool, dark, still, moderately humid: a north-facing cupboard, under-stairs void, or any interior room without radiators works. Avoid rooms with big temperature swings and direct sunlight.

  • Stable 10–16 Β°C ideal, ~12 Β°C sweet spot
  • Dark and vibration-free
  • Moderate humidity ~60–70%
  • Horizontal bottles keep corks wet

Racks and cooling

Start with a simple metal/wood rack; scale up only as your collection grows. For 150+ bottles or hot climates, add a thermoelectric or compressor wine fridge β€” they hold a constant temperature and are far cheaper than building a room.
