red grape
Grumello
Cool, steep alpine slopes of Valtellina high above Lake Como.
Known as: Nebbiolo Clone, Grumello
Grumello is, in effect, a historical clone of Nebbiolo grown on the impossible slopes of Valtellina, far above Lake Como in the Italian Alps.
It is the signature grape of Valtellina's long-lived reds — floral, red-fruited and built on a spine of tannin and alpine acidity.
For the buyer, Grumello delivers grip and ageing potential, mountain-style, at prices lower than Barolo's.
